SheJumps Baker Climb Fundraiser

Greetings! I'm climbing Mount Baker this summer to raise money for SheJumps, a non-profit whose mission is to increase the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities. The SheJumps community includes females of all backgrounds and ages who help one another reach their highest potential through outdoor adventures and education. $5, $10, $50—any amount helps accelerate our mission.

Why SheJumps and Baker:

The cause is important to me to show other women the safety, beauty, strength, and beauty of the mountains.
I moved to Washington from D.C. to find a community driven by their lifestyle in the mountains and outdoors. Although moving across the country, starting over new, and living a digital nomad life sounds exciting! It was extremely difficult and isolating trying to connect, let alone not knowing what was “home” and the Seattle Freeze.

SheJumps was the first organization I met a rad group of women through a backcountry course that lived to get after it. Work hard, play hard. Finally, it clicked: all unique, but all the same—successful, kind, positive, and intelligent individuals.

I am passionate about advocating for women's mental health and want to know I give back to my community by opening these "outdoor activities" doors to those who are not aware of the healing power of the mountains. This aligns with SheJumps, and this is why I am raising money for the amazing organization of women.

What I get out of all women's expeditions versus mixed expeditions is vulnerability, confidence, independence, trust in women, accountability, and sisterhood. The fear that we will not “be able to keep up” with the men is left behind. We can be our authentic selves.

What Donatings Means!

As a sponsor of SheJumps, you and your organization will receive digital and physical logos to promote, a Tax deduction document, a personalized map of your home mountain for supporting your Support, and a special link to follow the training journey as I knock out other Bulder Peaks in preparation, making sure to show the good, bad, and ugly. Please leave the contact, social media, and home address information in the comments.

A Little About Me - Brooke Whitcomb Hatcher

Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, identifying what was "home" was difficult for me. Where was it? I felt loved and safe. I found through cross country and horseback riding that the mountains are where I am welcomed, secure, alive, and feel my most authentic self. Running up and flying down the Blue Ridge became a daily activity in my backyard. I soon became addicted to the body and mental high—the meditation and art of placing your foot and picking your path. Craving the changing landscape, the hikes would bring. Searching for the new patterns in the familiar. Whether strapped into running shoes or a board, I have many creative outlets in the mountains.

"An open mind, and embracing of the journey, a thrist for the unknowen, and letting go of preconcived notions" -Jeremy Jones

With the rise of social media, I began to see Ski Mountaineering videos of rad women who would hike up these amicable, beautiful ascents, pushing their bodies to their limit over a changing landscape, to reaching a summit, celebrating, and then welcoming the second high, the ride down. These athletes were kind, beautiful, intelligent, radiating joy, and strong. I knew my soul needed this sport, community.,

a community of women who get after it

and a mountain range that supports this activity that I could call mine. This drive brought me to the Heart of the North Cascades, Cle Elum, Washington, in 2021. Mount Baker will be my first summit! one of many, and help me complete the Bulger list, the 100 highest peaks in Washington. Mount Baker is pure magic, and I will be overjoyed. My first overnight stay is spent at home. The community and energy remind me of my small town, as shown in Rappahannock, VA, but it is unique.

I would be so grateful for your support in this endeavor. Let's work together to create a more inclusive and diverse outdoor community!
Thank you in advance for your support. LLet'sdo this!
